
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is pleased to announce that Sheronda L. Carr, MBA, began her role as CEO on July 7, 2025. Carr was selected following a highly competitive national search and brings extensive experience in association management, membership development and organizational growth. An experienced executive, Carr has held association leadership roles in the built environment and manufacturing, with a consistent focus on championing women in traditionally male-dominated industries. She succeeds Interim Executive Director Velma Hart, MBA, FASAE, CAE, who has led NAWIC since February 2025.

Carr as the incoming CEO of NAWIC.,” said 2024-2025 NAWIC President Kelly Aust. “With her expertise in our sector, along with her proven track record in membership, and revenue generation, she will provide visionary leadership to our association and serve NAWIC’s members well.”

NAWIC’s work to educate, equip, and advocate for women is essential to the construction industry’s continued growth and resilience. I look forward to collaborating with the Board, staff, members, and industry partners to expand resources, promote safer work environments, and elevate women as a driving force behind the industry’s future.”
Carr most recently served as the Vice President of Membership for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Prior to that, she spent 16 years at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) where she had roles as the Executive Director of Customized Member Services and Executive Director of NAHB Professional Women in Building Council.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Strayer University in Washington, D.C.
