NAWIC Privacy Policy

The National Association of Women in Construction (“NAWIC,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal information when you use the following NAWIC services (the “Services”):

  • NAWIC membership
  • NAWIC websites, information systems, and other related services, including MemberSuite
  • NAWIC Mobile App (“the App”), whether as a member or guest user
  • NAWIC events

By using our Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Any personal information you provide to us including your name, address, telephone number and email address will not be released, sold or rented to any entities or individuals outside of our organization except as noted below.


1. Information We Collect

A. Profile Information

When you use NAWIC’s Services, NAWIC may collect and store your information in our system or the systems of our service providers. This information may include:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Mailing address
  • Chapter and Region
  • Company / Organization
  • Job title
  • Membership status, history, and dues information
  • Biography
  • Photo
  • Practice Areas
  • Social Links

This information is used to administer your user account(s) and may be displayed within NAWIC systems or the systems of our service providers, including the App, depending on your settings.

B. Communications
If you contact NAWIC for support, submit feedback, or communicate with us by email, form, or phone, we retain the information you provide (such as your name, email address, and message content) to respond and improve our Services.

C. Automatic and Technical Data

We collect standard technical and usage information to operate and improve our services, including:

  • Device type and operating system
  • IP address
  • App usage data (screens visited, timestamps, interactions)
  • Crash logs and error reports
  • Aggregated or anonymized analytics

D. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

NAWIC and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies (such as web beacons and pixels) on our websites to operate core site functions, remember your preferences, analyze traffic and usage patterns, and improve your experience. You may control cookie preferences through your browser settings; however, disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of our Services.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • Process membership applications and manage member records
  • Authenticate users and provide access to member-only services
  • Populate and display member profiles and directories
  • Support NAWIC chapters, regions, and national operations
  • Communicate with members about programs, events, and organizational matters
  • Provide App features (news feed, messaging, events, directories, buzz wall, etc.)
  • Send operational communications, push notifications, and in-app messages (where enabled)
  • Improve system performance, security, and usability
  • Respond to inquiries and support requests
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and organizational obligations

A. Internal NAWIC Use

NAWIC staff may access member information as necessary for legitimate operational purposes, including membership administration, communications, event management, and organizational governance.

B. Chapter & Leadership Access to Rosters

Member rosters containing personal information may be shared with the following NAWIC leadership roles solely to fulfill official NAWIC responsibilities:

  • Chapter Presidents
  • Membership Chairs
  • Directors and other authorized leadership roles

Access to this information is governed by NAWIC policies and bylaws. Individuals receiving rosters:

  • May use the information only for NAWIC-related responsibilities
  • May not share, sell, or distribute personal information
  • Must protect the confidentiality of member data

C. Service Providers & Vendors

We may share your personal information with companies (including our affiliates) that perform services on our behalf. Our service providers are required by contract to protect the confidentiality of the personal information we share with them and to use it only to provide specific services on our behalf.

D. Legal Requirements

We may disclose the personal information we collect through the Services, when we, in good faith, believe disclosure is appropriate to comply with the law (or a court order or subpoena); to prevent or investigate a possible crime, such as fraud or identity theft; to enforce our Privacy Policy or policies that govern your use of the Services; or to protect the rights, property or safety of our company, our users, or others.

E. Event Sponsors & Partners

In connection with NAWIC events, programs, webinars, conferences, or other organizational activities (collectively, “Events”), NAWIC may share limited personal information of registrants or attendees with event sponsors, exhibitors, partners, or service providers where such disclosure is necessary for event administration, fulfillment of sponsorship benefits, contractual obligations, or related operational purposes.

Attendees who wish to opt out of inclusion in sponsor or exhibitor attendee lists must submit such request to NAWIC prior to the distribution of the applicable list. NAWIC will make reasonable efforts to honor timely opt-out requests in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

3. Member Directory & Visibility

  • Member Directory Visibility: Certain membership fields (such as name, chapter, region, company, and job title) may appear in NAWIC directories, including the App, when you log in using your MemberSuite account.
  • Opt-Out: Members may opt out of directory inclusion through their Member Portal or by contacting NAWIC. However, logging into the App with a membership account will display MemberSuite-sourced profile fields to other App users
  • Blocking (App only): The App includes a blocking feature that limits visibility between users. Blocking does not remove a member from the directory; it only restricts visibility between the blocked accounts.

4. Your Choices & Rights

  • Access & Updates: Members can update core membership information through their Member Portal or by contacting NAWIC Membership staff.
  • App Profile Updates: Optional App profile fields can be edited directly in the Mobile App.
  • Directory Opt-Out: Members may request removal from directories through their Member Portal or by contacting NAWIC.
  • Account Deletion: Requests to delete App-related data stored via Clowder can be submitted to NAWIC. Some membership records must be retained for legal and operational reasons.
  • Notifications: Push notifications and in-app messaging preferences can be managed through App or device settings.If you are located in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (such as certain U.S. states or the EU), NAWIC will respond to verified requests as required by law.

5. Data Retention & Security

While we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information that you transmit to us and you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any passwords or other account information. In addition, other Internet sites or services that may be accessible through our Services have separate data and privacy practices independent of us, and therefore we disclaim any responsibility or
liability for their policies or actions. Please contact those vendors and others directly if you have any questions about their privacy policies.

NAWIC retains personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill organizational, legal, and operational purposes.

8. Children’s Privacy

NAWIC services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. International Transfers

NAWIC service providers may operate in multiple countries. Where applicable, we take steps required by law to protect personal information during international transfers.

9. Changes to This Policy

NAWIC may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through NAWIC channels, and the effective date will be updated. Continued participation in NAWIC after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
