NAWIC Welcomes Newly Installed 2024-2025 National Board and Regional Directors
October 30, 2024 – The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) proudly introduces its newly installed National Board and Regional Directors for the 2024-2025 term. With a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to enhancing the role of women in construction, these leaders are poised to drive NAWIC’s mission forward.
“It is an incredible honor to lead NAWIC as we enter this new chapter. Our organization thrives on uplifting women in construction, fostering leadership, and driving positive change in our industry. As we step into the future, together we rise—amplifying our impact, building stronger networks, and inspiring the next generation to see that in construction, the future is us,” said Kelly Aust, President, NAWIC.
Rita Brown, President Elect, NAWIC, reflected, “The opportunity to expand our impact through intentional gender advocacy, securing and reinforcing safe workspaces and places, wage and opportunity equity, and providing a community that fosters growth, professional advancement, and so much more, well, these are tangibles I/NAWIC look forward to advancing.”
“The single most impactful thing any one of us can do is inspire our gender to dig into their capabilities and claim their space,” Brown added. “Innovation, grit, preparedness and determination are all a part of the alchemy of success and coupled with a growth mindset, the potential to make a lasting impact on our industry is significant.”
• Kelly Aust, Project Manager, Skanska, Portland, OR, is now President of the Board. Kelly’s extensive background and leadership skills will guide NAWIC as it continues to champion the advancement of women in the construction industry.
• Rita Brown Owner, BCC+, Birmingham, MI, and Transportation Commissioner, State of MI, will serve as President Elect. Rita’s strategic vision and dedication will support Kelly and prepare for future leadership within NAWIC.
• Jodi Wiemerslage, Project Manager/Estimator Hunt Electric, Wykoff, MI, takes on the role of Vice President. Jodi’s leadership and expertise will be essential in fostering member engagement and advancing NAWIC’s initiatives.
• Tammy Rico, CBT, CIT, Senior Technical Training Designer DLR Group Ankeny, IA, is the newly elected Treasurer. Tammy’s financial acumen will be vital in managing NAWIC’s resources and supporting its financial health.
• Karen Hager, CBT, CDT, CIT, CIS, ESP, Accounting Manager at AB Design Group Longwood, FL, steps into the role of Immediate Past President. Karen’s extensive experience will provide valuable guidance and continuity for the board.
• Doreen Bartoldus, PE, CCM, Senior Director Client Services, Brown and Caldwell, New York City, NY, has been named Parliamentarian. Doreen’s expertise in construction management will ensure the board’s adherence to procedural rules and protocols.
• Crissy Ingram, CAE, Executive Director at NAWIC Headquarters, Fort Worth, TX, will continue to serve in that role. Crissy’s leadership at the headquarters will support the board’s strategic goals and organizational operations.

• Charris Sonne-Phinney, Commercial Construction Account Manager, Anchor Insurance & Surety Portland, OR, as Pacific Northwest Region Director
• Kaitlyn Eaton, PHR, SHRM-CP Senior Implementation Specialist Big-D Construction Salt Lake City, UT, as Pacific Southwest Region Director
• Rhae Sutphin Office Manager Watts & Associates Roofing Columbia, SC, as South Atlantic Region Director
• Angela Taylor, CIT, CNE, Executive Director Construction Career Collaborative, Houston, TX, as South Central Region Director
• Angela Highland, CIT, CPC, Business Development ABC of Central Florida, Orlando, Fl, as Southeast Region Director
