Tell us a little bit about your career and current position.

I work in the insurance & surety industry with a focus on construction. I pretty much read a lot of contracts to make sure my client is in compliance with all requirements.

How long have you been a NAWIC member, and how did you learn about NAWIC?

I have been a member of NAWIC for about six and a half years. I learned about NAWIC when I lived in Salt Lake City – a few of the contractors my insurance agency represented were members. When I moved to Portland, I had a co-worker who advocated for more ladies from our agency to become members.

How has NAWIC helped you in your career?

NAWIC is a great source for professional networking and development.

What is the best part about being a NAWIC member?

I love the comradery that being in NAWIC brings. And, the bonding with other members when traveling to regional and national conferences is priceless.

Why do you consider NAWIC to be a great organization?

NAWIC provides career growth through education, job opportunities, networking, and friendship. I’ve been able to see firsthand how members have helped other members switch companies or start new positions.

Congratulations to Charris for being recognized as part of our Best Person for The Job feature series. And thank you for all that you do for NAWIC! If you know of a NAWIC member that deserves to be recognized, contact us today.
