Best Person for the Job: Angela Robbins Taylor

Angela Taylor

Currently located: Houston, TX

Job title: Executive Director (elect)

NAWIC Position title: I am currently the PR/Marketing Chair as well as past Regional Marketing Chair, Chapter Recording Secretary and Board Member.

Tell us a little bit about your career and current position.
I started in a classroom as a teacher and transitioned to corporate education, talent management and eventually workforce consultant supporting commercial construction. I serve as the executive director (elect) for Construction Career Collaborative, a non-profit focused on helping the Houston construction industry solve workforce problems from manpower, to skill development and career growth, to preparing new generations to join the industry.

How long have you been a NAWIC member, and how did you learn about NAWIC?
3 years as a member and I was brought to the organization by others in the industry who felt I would fit well with the NAWIC mission.

How has NAWIC helped you in your career?
Partnered with NAWIC Houston, C3 and I were able to host a women’s only career awareness expo that was completely hands-on and had over 1100 participants at our very first event. Without the strong women of our organization I would never have had the ability to pull off such a large-scale event.

What is the best part about being a NAWIC member?
Learning about different aspects of construction is great but what keeps me coming back is the strong friendship and mentorships I have developed.

Why do you consider NAWIC to be a great organization?
Women tend to isolate and not celebrate what we are capable of. NAWIC allows none of that. We focus on the amazing power we all bring when we join together to break down barriers, crash through glass ceilings, and build futures that are grounded in advocating for inclusion.

Congratulations to Angela for being recognized as part of our Best Person for The Job feature series. And thank you for joining NAWIC! If you know of a NAWIC member that deserves to be recognized, contact us today.
