Strategic Focus

The PD&E Committee is an educational and professional development resource to NAWIC members. This committee provides regular effective communication to region PD&E chairs, National Staff, National Committee Chairs, and National Board on the educational opportunities to support NAWIC member development and professional growth. This committee provides scheduled and timely educational webinars and speakers to NAWIC members. The committee uses the President’s annual theme to provide a foundation for the selection of the speakers and topics.

2025 Schedule

  • December 12, 2024: Gift of Growing Your Chapter – Tammy Rico (NAWIC Numbers), Kelly Aust. Includes Check-in and Holiday Wishes.
  • January 9, 2025: Taking Care of You for 2025 with Deb Riegel.
  • February 13, 2025: Powerless to Empowered: Discover Your Voice with Cultural Intelligence with Dr. Amy.
  • March 13, 2025: Employer/Employees Benefits of NAWIC – Collaboration: Membership & Marketing.
  • April 10, 2025: Team Building Collaboration with Emerging Professionals.
  • May 8, 2025: Mental Health Awareness Month – Fostering a Community Within Projects.
  • June 12, 2025: Authentically Advocating for Yourself – Collaboration: DEI with Dr. Hintz.
  • July 10, 2025: Tackling Differing Site Conditions and Daily Fires – Collaboration: Safety & OSHA Alliance.
  • August 14, 2025: Collaboration with the Sustainability Committee.
  • September 11, 2025: Virtual Presentation of Completed Project – Collaboration: Tradeswomen.

Current Projects or Initiatives:

  • 6 weeks in advance we communicate with the intended speaker(s) to obtain their information for publication.
  • Upon receiving the information the webinar request for is sent to NAWIC
  • Follow up communication to NAWIC one week after webinar request form is sent in to confirm publication of event details.
  • Supporting NAWIC with any additional PD&E events, speakers, or initiatives
  • Developing guidelines for NAWIC chapters on Best Practices for Developing a PD&E Program

Committee Achievements:

We have secured webinars and speakers for all 12 months by October!

We are collaborating with multiple National Committees and the National Board to ensure quality, professional, and diverse programming for all.

Goals for the Coming Year:

To continue collaboration with each of the committees and support their growth and development give them a few minutes to highlight their committees and the goals they have.

Becoming your greatest starts here. Getting involved with your chapter through PD&E is the key.

Meeting Schedule:

Monthly webinars are scheduled for the 2nd Thursday of the month at 12 CST. The committee meets bimonthly on Friday at 3 PST to plan and prepare for events and other communications.

Accepting New Members:

The PD&E Committee is available to all members and happy to collaborate or discuss educational initiatives, plans, goals, or events for proposed future PD&E events.

Skills or Expertise Needed:

Ability to plan, schedule, and facilitate multiple webinar events, contact and confirm speakers, obtain all necessary elements points for each speaker and topic including headshot, bio, and talking points, systematically communicate with NAWIC Staff via Webinar request form, confirmation of publication dates, and Zoom panelist email is sent, research the speaker and topic to ensure both are appropriate for the diverse NAWIC audience, market the events, create and maintain a budget, and prepare for webinar hosting responsibilities.

Expertise in speaking to a large audience, knowledge of NAWIC, strong verbal and written communication, organization, overall professionalism are important. Knowledge of the industry, trending educational topics and connection to speakers is valued.

Eligibility Criteria:

This committee and the people that are a part of this NAWIC initiative, have a deep desire and drive for the professional development and growth of the membership. Successful PD&E committee members are committed to professional development in their own lives and careers. Members of this committee are committed to pursuing career-advancing practices. Curiosity, a commitment to standards of excellence and communication are key attributes in PD&E leadership.

Committee Member Responsibilities:

The chair and co-chair work together to schedule speakers and facilitate the monthly webinars. Additionally, the Chair and Co-Chair meet with other National Committee Chairs to discuss collaborative webinars and topics.
