NAWIC’s 2021 Annual Conference is an event designed for women in construction by women in construction

The National Association of Women in Construction is gearing up for our2021 Annual Conference and we want to share all of the details with those thinking about attending. Although the conference isn’t until August, it’s not too early to start planning ahead. We’ve already started putting the details together for this multi-day event designed specifically for women in construction and it’s shaping up to be another exciting experience.

The 2021 Annual Conference will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will run from August 11th – August 14th, 2021. Whether you’ve attended this event before or if 2021’s event is your first Annual Conference, there will be something new and exciting for all women in construction who attend. The theme for this year’s conference is Connect-Collaborate-Construct – and the event is filled with great speakers and content.

How the Annual Conference benefits women in construction

The Annual Conference is a beloved NAWIC tradition—and a long-standing tradition as well—with this year’s conference marking the 66th annual event. The event is also one of the biggest productions that NAWIC offers throughout the year, opening registration to members, non-members, and male colleagues.

Although NAWIC has over 115 chapters of women in construction all over the country, there are not many opportunities to bring our members together. Our Annual Conference, however, is the exception. Members look forward to the chance to connect with women in construction from all walks of life and to learn from others with different skill sets and construction backgrounds. From networking and forming friendships to inspiring speakers and workshops, the NAWIC Annual Conference exists to not only promote camaraderie but also to build the confidence and skills of all women in construction.

Conference event highlights

NAWIC has historically used the Annual Conference as an opportunity to have powerful guest speakers address the construction women community. This year is no exception, with two keynote speakers currently scheduled; Dave Davlin, founder of “The Game-Winning 3,” who will give an hour-long presentation on success in life and in business, as well as Stacey Hanke, author of “Communicating with Influence,” who will be discussing the power of influence and how to recognize your influence on others.

In addition to these speakers, NAWIC has the following mini-events scheduled for women in construction who attend the Annual Conference:

Breakout Sessions:
• A Culture of Sales Excellence + LIVE Sales Bootcamp!
• Construction Trends, Influences, and Impacts of COVID for 2022
• Pave Your Own Way: 13 Skills to Create Your Professional Success
• Workplace Harassment Prevention

Networking:
• Opening Reception
• Industry Councils
• Awards Gala & After Party

Members should feel free to ask their chapter leaders or visit the NAWIC website for more information on any of the events scheduled for the Annual Conference.

How women in construction can attend this year’s Annual Conference

After one heck of a year doing our best to connect virtually, we are more than ready to connect with other women in construction face-to-face. 2021’s Annual Conference will be held on-site and in-person. However, any members who wish to attend virtually still have the option to do so. NAWIC’s President, Anne Plfeger, gives some detail on this new virtual option, noting, “The virtual component will include live transmission and recordings of all general sessions, keynotes, the installation luncheon, and awards gala.” Because this is a new undertaking for the Annual Conference, more details on all of the features available for virtual attendees will be released closer to the conference dates. NAWIC is hoping to make this year’s events accessible in a variety of ways, as President Pfleger also notes. “As we continue to receive support from our annual conference sponsors, we may be able to record some or all of the breakout sessions to provide attendees both in person and virtually the opportunity to see a session they missed or want to see again.”

Remember, this event is open to anyone – members, non-members, and male peers – who would like to learn more about the importance of women in construction, construction industry insights, and professional development. If you are interested in attending the 2021 NAWIC Annual Conference, registration details can be found on our website. More information, including sponsorship and advertising opportunitieshotel accommodations, and a full schedule of events can also be accessed through our Annual Conference page.
